Where can I learn "dock" vs "Launchpad" vs "Applications" vs application or alias on desktop?

I'm not looking for extended newbie answers here, rather links to use. What are the relative advantages of "dock" vs "Launchpad" vs "Applications" vs an application or alias on the desktop?

They're all good options and people choose the ones that work best for them. I never use Launchpad, but other people love it. I go with the Dock for everything. I'll use desktop alias for some documents, but rarely for apps. I also add folders in the Dock for Applications, Documents, and Downloads (by dragging from my Home folder). Then everything I use most often is right in front of me.

It's primarily a matter of personal preference. I open apps primarily via the Dock and Spotlight (CMD+space). For files, I refer to  > Recent Items, or open the app and the using the File > Open dialog.

1. 30-40 frequently used programs are kept in my dock. They are grouped together with HyperDock which also allows me to select program windows, such as a specific open Safari page.

2. To select from my running programs (some 30-40) I use command tab, or chose a specific program window with Hyperdock.

3. For less used applications I organize them into folders, have a mouse key that invokes the LaunchPad and start them from there. I save my layout with LaunchPad Manager

OP here. I gather that it is "different strokes for different folks", that there are many ways to skin a cat, and that there is no ABSOLUTE best (or even correct) way for everyone.

Just another reminder, as I used to teach new users, that these are PERSONAL computers.

There are many ways to launch apps, it’s down to personal preference. Try them all and see what works best for you.

For me, apps that I regularly use I access from the Dock. Other apps I use by easy search in Spotlight, or from Finder Applications folder. Launchpad is not something I have found to be useful.
