Where did my space go?

Strange one this... just installed Tiger on an external FW partition. Installed some apps and decided to check how much free space I had left.

Something doesn't add up. According to the folder sizes total, I've used just over 12.6GB yet the drive is reporting 17.6GB used... somewhere I've lost 5GB 😕😕

This is from a fresh restart so everything is updated, the trash is empty and the machine has 4GB RAM so it's not lacking there. Any ideas where the space has disappeared to?

Aha thanks, found the culprit. A 4GB sleepimage which I have no use for (not likely to be without power and juice in the battery) so safesleep is now disabled and the gigs are back for me to use 🙂
