Where do I get a Desktop Calendar?

I'm a relatively new mac user and have seen some screen shots of OS X with a calendar right on the desktop. It's usually transparent.

What program does that? Does iCal do that or something else? 😕

I use Yahoo Widgets for that, you can get it at widgets.yahoo.com
