I know that heat is terrible for the Macbook Pro's battery, so where do you put your Macbook Pro when you have turn up the heat in your home during the Winter?

I live in Phoenix so I don't have this problem. However, I think you are worrying too much. There is an acceptable range of temperature which the MBP can deal with (I'm sure it's published on Apple's website somewhere).

Keep in mind, regardless of ambient temperature in your house the MBP can hit GPU and processor temps of 90C or more at times. It's likely the battery gets very warm as the body of your Mac absorbs these temps and heats up as well.

The only time I would worry about excessive ambient temperatures is in the dead of summer and leaving your MBP in the car with the windows rolled up for several hours.

Or you could just put on a sweater instead.

So wait is it okay if it's in the room when the heater's on?

When I read that heat was bad I thought it was like any heat...not say over 100 degrees.

Do what I do.

Run it in "clamshell mode" connected to your Display of choice. Why would you be putting your computer on or near a direct heat source?

Oh ya that's a good point. Thanks a lot! I was getting worried as it's gotten pretty cold here already 🙂

I have taken my MBP to Iraq - it was fine.

Before that, my white MB made the trip - twice.

It would be pretty unusable if you couldn't use your Macbook in climates just over 100 degrees. There a several states and countries where it's always very warm.

I certainly hope you're not turning the heat up in your house to over 100 degrees? That's not healthy. 😉

I keep in in my microwave. Electromagnetic discharges will extend your mbp's battery life. 😀

if it survives...

If it's cold

If it's cold put it under your pillow when you sleep. If it's Saturday and your'e going out make sure it has a blanket. During the day out it next to an iMac for company....
