Hi

Where does free space disappear in Catalina ?

Installed XCode 16GB ...
Moved it to Trash
Emptied the Trash

I did not get a byte back ... should have been 16GB

and now I cant install xcode 11.2.1 from appstore "not enough free space" ,,, its about 30 GB free on the SSD 🙁

This new filesystem seems to be very buggy

What you are likely seeing is local snapshots using up space. It should clear off on its own in 24 hours, or you can run the command below in Terminal to remove them.

tmutil  listlocalsnapshotdates / |grep 20|while read f; do tmutil deletelocalsnapshots $f; done

I wonder if the system cluster is now too small?

I ended up using CCC to backup and restore using Samsung T5 SSD. Might want to even install on the new clone.

Instead of trashing program, there is no uninstaller? I'm sure there are parts installed to system library etc.
