With my Mini 13, I decided to go all in on the MagSafe ecosystem. Got a case with magnets, a 3rd party wallet on order, and got an official charger. Trying to figure out where the charger fits. I already have a stand up Qi charger on my desk and nightstand, and when I travel I bring a 6 port anker hub. The Magsafe charger is neat but I'm not sure where it fits in my life.

anyone else with a magsafe charger—how and where do you use it?

I switched to Magsafe and now just use the Qi next to my bed for Airpods. I always had to triple check that my phone was positioned right on the Qi charger when i went to bed.

I have a MagSafe but never had a previous wireless charger. My MagSafe lives next to my recliner so I can charge for a few hours in the evening while I’m relaxing or I can pop the phone on in the morning while I shower.

I’ve wondered this exact thing. If I’m gonna go through the trouble of attaching the MagSafe I might as well just plug it in and get much more speed. If I’m going to use a dock I’ll just buy a separate dock with MagSafe built in. I guess the one thing is if you buy a dock that accept MagSafe cable charging is a bit faster wirelessly

I bought the MagSafe charging puck just to see how it worked and I just didn't feel like it was any easier than plugging the phone in. Maybe a little bit easier? Maybe for someone with a disability or age that couldn't hold their hands steady I can see how the MagSafe puck would be a lifesaver.

I thought about getting this Belkin one for my nightstand but I'm not sure if it's worth $140 especially since I don't see it available on Amazon or Belkin's site so makes me wonder if it's been discontinued for a newer model.

I am currently using the same charger as well. Put me in with the “looks nifty, and works as advertised, but not really sure if it’s worth the money” camp.

I'm really on the fence here too. The times where I'm wirelessly charging I don't care about speed, so the 15w thing doesn't matter to me. I already have a combo phone/watch charger on my nightstand that I got at Costco like two years ago. It only charges at 5w, but that's fine for overnight. About the only one that has me tempted at all is the Duo charger for when I travel. It's on sale at Verizon, but I still have a hard time justifying the $96 they want let alone Apple's full price.

If you travel frequently it would be worth it but if you’re like most people who maybe travel once a year it’s not really necessary

That's what my thinking has been. I'm on the fence because I'm normally one of those who only travels for vacation. But for the next six months or so I'll be doing some fairly regular travel for work.

Honestly….MagSafe would be worth a lot more to people if they included it in the boX. People would be like…”oh cool a magnetic charger!” The fact that it’s gotta be bought separately on top of having to get a USB-C brick, it’s a pretty big ask for people to ditch their current cord or QI charger for a $50+ setup.
Becasue of that it seems like a massive gimmick.
