Where does OS X store GUI images?

    On the first boot, when messages pop up asking you to agree or if you're sure, there is an image of a tuxedo. Where is it stored on the system? I would like to use it as my avatar.

    Go digging through /System/Library/Core Services.

    Not totally sure you'll find the icon you're looking for, but that is where a lot of that stuff lives.

    It's in SetUpAssistant App bundle in Coreservices, so/System/Library/CoreServices.

    It's an Icon, you can open the Icon in Preview, then select All and make a new from Clipboard, but, I attached it here for you.

    Click on this, it opens in a new Tab, then drag to Desktop.

    It's certainly set as my avatar, any idea when it starts to show up?

    You need 500 posts for an avatar, you can however set a profile picture, which is only visible on your profile page.

    Here is the latest sticky about avatars.
