...I've been converting my uni work from VHS to DVD using a Canopus ADVC110, Final Cut Express HD and Toast 7. Gone thru about 23 tapes until I nearly maxed out my 250GB, so burnt my stuff onto DVD.

I roughly had about 190GB before I started, now tho I've only got 51.85GB in my HD.

I've deleted the folders which had the converted footage. I'm sure I didn't save anything in FCE and Toast!!!

Anyone know that I'm doing wrong?

Probably a stupid couple of questions to ask but have you
a) emptied the trash
b) re-booted the machine

I ask a) simply because I always forget to do that myself and suddenly find a ton of rubbish there, kick myself hard and tell me not to do it again.
and b) because I don't know if toast happens to use the temporary folder.
Periodically, the /tmp folder will be emptied but you can force this early by just re-booting.
