I think this AVP made more money than Apple's AVP, lol.
Okay, I was curious and had to look it up.
Estimates are Apple sold less than 500k AVP in its first year and far less in year two. I could only find an estimate of 4500 in the holiday quarter, so probably less than 20k for the year?
At $3500+ a pop, let's just be generous and say it was $2 million revenue.
Alien Vs Predator made $177.4 million at the box office.
I think it probably had a higher profit margin too ($60-70m budget).
So Alien Vs Predator is definitively the better AVP.

No thanks. Much rather replace a $1 battery once a year than have to recharge AirTags much more frequently and have them be larger to support wireless charging.

Chipolo last half as long and cost 2x as much as an AirTag.
Not to mention the overall lifespan of the product. Running the AirTag on a hard-wired lithium battery would put it on a countdown to going to landfill when the battery wears out. When that Chipotle tag battery hits its max cycle count and only works for a couple days or whatever, you're gonna throw it directly into the trash. AirTag product lifespan is potentially many years, provided it continues to be supported by iOS.

Sorry but a rumor being wrong does not constitute a “missing feature”
Agreed. I thought we were talking about a feature the first gen AirTag had but the second gen didn’t.

The title is misleading, and frankly, doesn’t warrant a post. In my opinion we don’t need an article whenever a product doesn’t include a rumored feature.

With very few customers owning a Vision Pro, don't think it is a huge deal. Also many of the rumors might not end up to be true.

I wish AirTags could be recharged wirelessly, maybe using the Apple Watch charger? Chipolo has this function for their credit-card-sized wallet product.
I don't know if that's reasonable man, they'd have to put a big old magnet right in the middle of the tag for alignment, and another almost equally large coil around it to receive the........

Wait, is THAT really why they went with an asinine full speaker coil and magnet instead of the typical energy efficient piezo buzzer for the airtags?

...Yes, I tried it just now and sadly the magnet polarity is the opposite of what it would need to be to latch to the watch charger, probably intentional.

Still, that almost seems too obvious not to have been considered in the original design, an extra diode, transistor, and charging IC to change up the coil function could be marginal cost increases in comparison to implementing that full speaker assembly in the first place.

But unless they intended to make a sealed tag variant with the same assembly line we'd just be blowing up button batteries left and right.
