Where is iBooks?

We have Pages, Keynote, Numbers and tons of other apps but iBooks is mysteriously missing. Whats the deal?

It'll most likely show up when the iBooks section in iTunes goes live.

The first sentence of the first paragraph:

Download the iBooks app free from the App Store.*

At the bottom, in subdued gray font:

*iBooks is available only in the U.S.

As for the OP, I guess we'll have to wait for Saturday. I hope they also release the iPad remote app at the same time.

They probably did it that way so they can ship iPads to other countries where the iBook store isn't ready at launch time.

Yeah, and they can update features without an OS update.

And, they can't deny other book readers for duplicating built-in functionality.

Look how long it took Amazon to get into the international market. They had to cut a lot of deals. Apple is the minor player at this time. They're having a tough enough time bringing the US publishers into the fold. It will be a while until they get things together for anywhere else.
