I'm ready to add a 6" Pioneer or whatever iOS in the car with maps onscreen for XMas! Completely silent at iPad event.

I'm pretty sure it will only be available in built-in units on certain vehicles. From what they've said so far, it will not be on individual head units you can purchase as after-market replacements.

Below is a list of the manufacturers that have, so far, indicated that they will be introducing iOS in the Car to select models of their cars beginning in 2014. The service will be built in to the in-car system, and as of now it seems there are no plans for the service to be added into aftermarket systems.

Again, it will be available in certain car models built by these manufacturers, in new 2014 model cars and beyond. As of now, there's no indication that there will be any way to install the service in an older generation car.

    Acura
    Audi
    BMW
    Chevrolet
    Chrysler
    Ferrari
    Ford
    General Motors
    Honda
    Hyundai
    Infiniti
    Jaguar
    Kia
    Land Rover
    Mercedes-Benz
    Nissan
    Opel (Vauxhall)
    Toyota
    Volvo

Where did you get this list? It seems strange that Audi gets it but VW won't, considering that Audi is a fully owned subsidiary of VW. Same with Lamborghini.

    Compiled from various articles.

Again, it's not an official list of all manufacturers that will release vehicles with iOS in the Car, just of those that have so far been openly announced and can be easily found.

I thought that VW was the first to announce availability in at least one of their cars.

Ios in the car wont be worth a damn unless they incorporate it into a backwards conpatible solution for currently owned cars.
