where is it? in system prefs

im trying to setup my account on my mac, the first step is to "Open System Preferences, choose MobileMe, and sign in. If you see the .Mac logo instead, select .Mac and sign in. Follow onscreen instructions if they appear." i dont see a mobileme in system prefs

Do you see .Mac in system preferences?

Either way, it should be the far left icon in the "Internet & Network" section of system preferences.

mine said .Mac. for some reason i just ignored it, i had to update to get it to say MobileMe

Yeah, the PrefPane doesn't change until the Software Update is performed. Perfectly normal.
