Has anyone noticed that Steve jobs doesn't do the walk through on the products anymore. What is he too good? Now its some sales rep or Apple store worker. OK so they do a good job. There just not Jobs. All he does is Mac World. And everybody knows the Keynote this year sucked. I mean the "MacBook Air" why not just a new, thin "MacBook" and a new "MacBook Pro." The recent update sucks and now after waiting for 6 moths to get a new MBP they update the processor. Oh thats great. Now the next full update is in June. I am going to by the iMac next week after its "update." but apple needs to get it together no wonder its stock is about to fall under $100(NOT GOOD).

Yeah, I'm sure if he had a broom he could sweep the corridors too

Apple has to start looking beyond Steve Jobs. Sooner or later that man will want to retire. Stepping back from as many of the public aspects of the company such as product announcements is a good thing with regards to that transition.

As for the MBP update, what's wrong with it exactly? The only thing I can see missing is the BTO option for a slot-loading Blu-Ray drive, although considering they are still very expensive I can imagine the bitching about that one would deafen half a continent. Everything else is pretty much up there with all other laptop manufacturer's hardware.

Your rant lacks focus, my friend. What exactly do you have a problem with? Steve Jobs not making more public appearances? Your dream laptop not magically appearing at the Macworld Convention? You getting 'possessed' by the new Macbook Pros that don't, not surprisingly, meet your expectations? Pick a topic and stick to it. There are already enough incoherent rambling threads in these forums.

Jobs had to stop public walkabouts because people with 8 apples in their sig were stalking him.

    It's up $5.78 (to $128.83) so far today(GOOD).

Are you talking about the iPhone/AppleTV instruction videos online? When did Steve Jobs ever do those?

Yes I do agree with the statement about jobs. I like the way Steve runs things. Everything that Apple does is way above par like the iPhone and every OS they have ever had. Its just I wanted to see a new case for the MBP, and yes, Blu-ray would be nice. I have been reluctant to buy a MBP ,or my second choice an iMac, for 6 months because I believed there would be an update at Mac World. I didn't get that, So i was going to by an iMac but I heard about the MB/MBP possible update so I said OK I'll Wait, I did and I didn't get what I would call a "full update" this is sorta half way to a new MBP. This Thread is just my way of displaying how p-ed off I am.
    I changed my spelling^
    See above

    That is Good:)

I thought it was marvelous.

    Apple TV Take 2- superb.
Apps on iPod Touch- Fee wasn't so nice, but this opens up the world of iPhone apps to iPod Touch users, which is great for them and great for AAPL.

Do you know if anyone manufacturers slot-loading Blu-Ray DVD drives (that would fit in MBPs) for Apple to buy?

Do you remember the first gen MacBook Pros and how they didn't have dual-layer DVD drives because of that issue?

I don't, But Sony makes the screens for the MBPs, MB, and iMac's, and as far as I know the cinema displays to so it should be no problem getting one.

I'm not sure what the OP is on about either, but FWIW, Steve Jobs is/was rarely seen on the floor of MacWorld. In the 10+ years I've attended, I can recall this happening only once, and that was only a rumor (I think it was in 1997). The only other time I know about was when the G4 iMac was introduced the day before the show opened and the media was invited to Apple's area and Steve was available to talk with the press.

One change I noticed a few years back was that he stopped coming out on the MacWorld stage after the keynote for a photo-op.

Sony is not the exclusive vendor for those screens. Apple uses many. The iMac for one has had several vendors.

Not much else you can ask of Apple, not trying too hard to defend the company but they'll never serve everyone's needs.

Steve Jobs is the face of Apple, but he's not going to be making product intros for the Apple Website. As charismatic and absorbing he is, he only makes public appearances at big Events like WWDC, MacWorld, special events, etc.

Samsung and LG were the two screens used in the previous gen MBP's and I'd assume they are still using those in the new updated ones.

If you are talking about these little tutorials that started with the iPhone....Steve never did anything like that (partly because Apple never did anything like that before in the first place).

Besides, if the CEO of any company was wasting his time doing those type of things, I would be very suspicious of the company.

I wonder if the OP is thinking of the older keynotes where Steve would sometimes sit in front of a computer (on stage) for a few minutes demoing some features of whatever software was updated that year?
