I recently upgraded to Sitemeter premium under the impression it would tell me where my traffic is coming from... as far as other sites and advertisements linking to me. Am I just blind cause I can't find such feature.

I use AWStats for my site statistics. Be careful of using tools that require adding JavaScript to your page, as visitors with JavaScript disabled (like me, who use NoScript for Firefox) will get ignored by the statistics. Though, some use JavaScript to simply pick up additional stats. I haven't tried Sitemeter so can't help you locate that information if it provides it. You may want to see if they have a FAQ, a readme, or the like.
