Does anyone know where the istats menu "backside chip" on a powermac g5?
I have a really high reading from that chip 399F. The drive bay reads over 8000F, I don't have a hole in my floor so I know that one is wrong. It is a Dual 2.0 June 2004 powermac g5 with 10.5.8. There is three chips with heatsinks on the back of the logic board. Is it the one under the pram battery by the pci-x slots with the medium size heatsink ? Is it 1 ,2 ,3 ?
Thank you for any help.

That is just a picture I found online it is the same board as mine but it is not my logic board. What do you mean by common issue on this board, is it common with istats menu or with the sensor, or the backside chip is bad?
thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the leads, I'll check them out when I get so time on Monday. Is there a temp. sensor somewhere for the backside on the logic board. I still am not sure where to look. Is it the small card on the top right of the logic board in the picture in the 1st post?
