My other 1/2 is not to happy to see the sizes. She’s active and doesn’t always carry a bag for her phone.

Women have small hands, small pockets....big phones don’t fit in bras very well as well.

When you compare the weight and size of the current line up to the past they really are forgetting that not everyone has man hands and the roots of the iPhone are of a smaller form factor.

The engineering is done. Don’t neglect the smaller hand sized, smaller body sized market place Apple!

Thoughts?

The X has been great for my wife for the past year and she came from a 6. She never liked the larger sizes of the Plus models and actually appreciates her X has a larger screen while being the same size as her 6 was. My daughter is planning on upgrading her 6s to an Xs. She would prefer the Xr for price and it’s more phone than she really wants, but decided to spend the extra for the Xs due to size. And honestly, if you can budget for it, the screen and camera are better on the Xs... But also a lot to spend for just a better screen/camera when the Xr already looks like a great phone.

I find it interesting the that posts like these have the same theme. Small cutesy woman = must have tiny phone. I am super petite myself and have child sized hands. I like big phones and am going to max from 8+. Same with my friends. I don't need my cell phone in my boobs.

I still think an SE upgrade is possible March 2019.. If that doesn’t happen, I will have to agree the SE will go in the same bin as the iPad mini... I don’t see how using the exact same body with an A10 cpu/gpu, 2nd gen touchid and the camera from the 7 would be money in there pockets..

What I don’t understand is the idea that you need small hands to make these phones too big. I’m extremely average in size (5’10”, very ‘normal’ hands) and I cannot IMAGINE being able to use anything bigger than the SE with one hand. Even that I find to be a bit too big for my hands.

I feel like it’s not a question of hand size, because you would need giant cartoonish monster hands to use these things with one hand. I wonder if there’s any human on earth with big enough hands to reach the top left corner of the screen with their thumb.

What this really boils down to, is iPhones have become aimed at people whose primary conputer is their phone, and if they own a ‘real’ computer, it’s secondary.

If you own a macbook pro or whatever, and have it with you all the time, there’s really no phone in the current lineup that even comes close to making sense. It’s just awkward and redundant. A bunch of humongous 2-handed devices.

I'm a male with very large hands and I'm currently using the iphone 7 plus. I can't use this phone with one hand neither can i image that there is someone who could use the phone with one hand.

This was my first big phone and I have to say I'm not going to get another big phone. I think the size of the iphone xs is the biggest which I would enjoy using.

But from a price perspective I don't want to pay more for a phone than the price of the XR. But I don't want to use the XR because I think it's to big....

... 1st world problems.

Agree totally. I have the iPhone SE. I had to buy a new phone, probably the 6, couldn't carry it with me around the house. A month later the SE came out and I bought it and sold the "better" one. Still going strong but if I bought another to keep me going, how long before it was more or less unusable? I only use it for calls and surfing the internet as I work from home and usually have my laptop available.

I have a MacBook 12 and Mini 4 and carry either one or the other and sometimes both most of the time.
My SE complements them perfectly.
I had a 6 for 2 years and after swapping to the SE, I grew to love the compact and lightweight attributes of the SE.
It’s fast enough for what I need it to do.

I’ll be getting the cheap battery replacement towards the end of the year and stick with mine for as long as it works for me.

The phones now are just too big and heavy with features I don’t need.

I'll be sticking with my 7 as long as possible. The new phones are just to big, I'm only 4'9" and I feel like carring around a 5.8 or 6.5" phone would look ridiculous. So once my 7 dies I may just be done with apple.

This is exactly it. My wife is 5 feet. It’s not really the using it, it is what you do with it when your carrying it around as well.

I’m using the 8 for a year now. I'm a 6'2 guy with pretty big hands but still I like to use my phone comfortably with one hand.

When I see the new dimensions of this year’s iPhones and prices it makes me sad to see the direction Apple is going. The 5.8 inch XS is not that much bigger in overall size than the 8, but the price of the 64GB variant will be 1159 euro (1350 USD) in The Netherlands, I will never pay that for a phone. The XR is too big for me at 6.1 inch and still expensive (850 euro) but affordable for me. But the problem is I don’t like big phones, at all. Hate it.

If Apple continues this ridiculous phablet line-up and these price ranges, I will keep my 8 for at least 5 years, maybe changing the battery after 2 or 3 years. Comfortable one-handed usage seems to be not that important to Apple anymore and that’s a shame imo.

There's not a big market for small phones anymore. Your options are an old SE, a 7 or 8, or an X. Or you could roll with a cellular Apple Watch.

There actually is a market for small phones, - people (and not only women, but women comprise a large part of any given population) who want small phones and who like the form factor.

It is not just that you like to be able to use it with one hand (as I do), but also to be able to carry it around in a jeans or jacket pocket easily.

My brother had offered me his old iPhone 6, as a gift, and I found it too large, too unwieldy, and too uncomfortable to use.

As long as my iPhone SE works, that is what I shall use, and as long as it exists, that is what I shall replace it with.

Now, I have no intention of replacing my computer with my phone; for that, I have a perfectly good MBA.

With all due respect, you're going off personal opinion by saying there is a market for it. I am trusting Apple here, as I am sure they have done plenty of research and understand better than anyone. If there was a market, they would make a phone that size.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple releases an iPhone X Mini next year. I do think there is a small market for a smaller phone. I know a few people personally that want a smaller phone.

I am a bloke and for me the iPhone 5/se
Is still the perfect size. I also have a work 7plus and previously a 6 plus. I don’t like that the 7 is already significantly heavier than the 6 and that seems to be the apple trend, bigger and heavier.

I don’t see the size as a male/female thing, lots of women carry phones in bags so big phones are fine. I carry phones in pockets and the big phones are a pain for me to carry. The plus size phones go in bags.

The 5s was the perfect size/weight, the se is slightly thicker but battery life is great. I hope they bring back the SE or my next phone will either be a second hand SE or another brand. I want small and headphone port!

The thing is: Small cutesy woman = small cutesy pockets...
