Where should my keyboard/mouse be placed (ergonomics)?

Should the keyboard be directly in front of the center of the computer and the mouse be a little to the side? Or should the keyboard be somewhat to the side (not exactly in front of the center of the computer) and the mouse be a little closer in but still to the side?

I'm asking because both seem kind of awkward.

There's no right or wrong way. Just find whatever feels comfortable to you.
