I also stumbled upon the $2899 2008 3.2 Ghz 8-core mac pro offered in
B&H yesterday and can't believe this deal. I placed an order
immediately and wonder if this is too good to be true. So far no
email from B&H canceling my order. BTW, the item description
listed a 500TB drive, now this is one incredible awesome deal :)

This is going to be a significant upgrade from my trusty powermac
G4 Dual 533 Mhz.

That sounds the same deal as has been sitting on the refurb site for a while here in the UK (£2499 for octo 3.2GHz with 8800GT, 500GB drive and two superdrives). I guess it is a standard high-end configuration that they now have an overstock of. (We have 15% tax and are always charged more in the UK anyway but the ex-tax price would be around $3,150 which is not far off.)

But B&H does not sell a refurb 3.2 at all ;)

So do we in Germany. At least even more than you in UK :mad:

The price of B&H is 2.166,- Euro - the cheapest online seller in Germany charges 3.897,- Euro :eek:
That´s a plus of 80% (in words EIGHTY) :eek::eek:

Sorry. I can´t stand reading the US prices anymore :(

If you are lucky, your local John Lewis store may have some in stock. I know that sometimes they sell old stock as "Clearance" at big discounts and they sometimes do the same for ex-display models.

Update: I got mail from B&H that this item has shipped.
"2x3.2gh QC/2GB/500GB/2X SPR/8800GT N/E" is listed in
as the item. Looks like this is not a mistake. Wow.
Now I have to spend more $$ on memory and drives :)

i think that you should either buy it on ebay or at amazon since i have bought many items from these site and found that these are the best sites where you can buy and sell items on net.

B&H is a good, reputable site / store. I have ordered stuff from them a number of times, and have seen numerous recommendations of them. I personally wouldn't hesitate to buy from B&H. I have Amazon Prime, and so prefer to use Amazon when possible, but B&H is very good.
