Hi,

I'm looking to buy the AC plug for Continental Europe without ordering the whole "Apple World Travel Adapter Kit". Is that possible? What is the spare part number?

I personally prefer official Apple products

Where are you based? I have several of those at home (Switzerland) - actually selling them on a local Swiss platform. Maybe we can strike a deal.

Funny enough, I am looking for a UK adapter plug at the moment.

I actually ended up buying the genuine World Travel Adapter Kit (as suggested by @MarkC426) for my MBP as it wasn't that expensive. I believe the other option would have been to purchase one at Apple that had the correct EU end but was fitted with an extension cable (on the AC side). You could also try calling Apple Care to see if they'll send you only that adaptor part out for a small fee. This was also suggested to me but I didn't want to wait.

Only £35 from Apple, your then covered for the world.
Plus you will have a spare for your local region.

In case it’s still relevant, you can buy a cheap, generic 2-pin EU power cable as the Apple travel plug has no ground anyway.
I just recently discovered it fits perfectly into Apple’s chargers and also makes great for a cheap extension cord (it just lacks the ground contact(s) in comparison to Apple’s extension cord).

edit: With 'ground' I’m referring to the alternating current’s (AC) protective ground/earth/earthing conductor.
It's absence often leads to a tingling feeling when touching the device that is being charged/connected.

So there I was about to correct you! And yep, you're right, just checked on my M2!

I was part of a thread once where a huge discussion ensued about earthing being/ not being present. I sent pics of the steel (earth) guiding pin and metal strips in the adapter, but that was with the (Apple) longer AC cable.

Well, that's disappointing. I myself might now think about getting the longer AC cord now as in winter with heating (dry environment), and synthetic couch covers, there's quite some static that builds up. I got initially zapped by my 2009 MBP returning to the couch, every single time. And that thing clearly had ground. Anyways, glad you mentioned this.
