I upgraded to Catalina on my Macbook Pro from 2017.

I know I can do a full recovery but since it originally came with Sierra that's what it will default to. Apple removed Mojave from the Appstore so where do I get a legit version of Mojave?

if you're on macOS Catalina already you can get the macOS Mojave installer using the following command in the Terminal.app

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.14.6
I tried to pull down Sierra on a machine running High Sierra and it didn't work. Which OS is required to use that command? Or is it not possible to fetch that old installations?
Kakapo:~ david$ softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.12.6
softwareupdate: unrecognized option `--fetch-full-installer'
softwareupdate: unrecognized option `--full-installer-version'
