Where to download MacOS Mojave?

I upgraded to Catalina on my Macbook Pro from 2017.

I know I can do a full recovery but since it originally came with Sierra that's what it will default to. Apple removed Mojave from the Appstore so where do I get a legit version of Mojave?

if you're on macOS Catalina already you can get the macOS Mojave installer using the following command in the Terminal.app

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.14.6

Mojave is still in the AppStore https://apps.apple.com/app/id1398502828
You can also use from Terminal

open "x-apple.systempreferences:com.apple.preferences.softwareupdate?installMajorOSVersion=10.14.6"

I tried to pull down Sierra on a machine running High Sierra and it didn't work. Which OS is required to use that command? Or is it not possible to fetch that old installations?

Try the command softwareupdate -h, which should output a summary of the available command-line options. At least it used to.
