I went to a well advertised Mac repair place in London to have my 12" PowerBook's hard drive replaced and though they were pleased to do it right away they wanted £160 inc VAT to fit it - for less than 30 mins work - so I told them to get lost. They were going to make money out of the drive too and was kind of expecting a 50 quid bill.

Anyway, I'd be grateful for suggestions for while you wait places 100 miles radius of London to get my PB fixed. Any ideas of what price is the norm for this kind of job?

Cheers!

Download the Apple service manual and do it yourself... it'll take you an hour or so if you take your time. 😉

Thanks! I am as my Mum used to say "practically useless" so would rather have someone with the right aptitude for this stuff do it 🙂
