Update: I bit the bullet and bought it. I'll follow up when I get it and install it.

Mine is 2013 late rMBP
The SSD is from Mac Pro 2013

Alright peeps, as mentioned I bought the drive, I've got it installed, and it's great. The speeds are real on the 1TB, blackmagic shows average of 1300 write and 1400 read. I'm pretty impressed, and no problems so far, no overheating, nothing of the sort.
