I was looking to replace my cooling fans for my Mid-2012 MBP Retina. All of the places I looked at including iFixIt were out of stock. I wasn't sure if listings on eBay were going to be genuine or reliable, seeing as most stores outside of eBay are out of stock. Thank you!
Are you talking about the 15" model? I looked on PowerBook Medic and they have a new right fan in stock and a used left fan in stock. https://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Pro-15-Retina-Left-Fan-p-24069.html https://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Pro-15-Retina-Right-Fan-p-24070.html If you are looking to find the left fan new, use the Apple part number listed and search on ebay or Google for the new part.
I am looking at the 15" model! Thank you! Just a question, are most of the eBay parts genuine or does it really matter?
I have gotten a couple Apple parts on eBay and haven't had an issue. When I enter a part number in eBay, I usually restrict the search to top rated sellers and contact the seller directly if the description isn't clear enough to indicate it is an authentic part. If you receive something not as described, you can make a claim to get your money back.
I got my fan for a 2009 MacBookPro5,5 off eBay for cheap. It has worked fine for the past 5 years. Buying a used fan makes little sense, given the relatively low cost of a new one.
