From what I can tell, there simply never was such a thing as an IX2790 with no issues.

Has anyone heard of such a thing?

..or did the ix2790 only ever exist as a product built specifically as a way to use LG panels with issues that Apple didn’t want for iMacs?

I kept the one that they sent me. They seem to be similar though. :/ This one also has image retention.

It wasn't so bad. I ended up selling my computer to go back to an iMac. I'm going to sell the display. Don't know if anyone will buy it. :/
