I looked under the bottom foot of my new M1 iMac and, to my surprise, it was made in Thailand! Anyone else have Thai iMacs?

Mine is a launch day Silver 8/8, 16GB, 1T.

Interesting thread, looks like all UK orders are coming from the Ireland assembly plant ?

That’s a bad idea.
Okay, I'm curious...

For years I've seen screenshots posted etc., to show their Macs specs but with the serial number blanked out or fuzzed. As a result it's not something I'd share - but what could someone else actually do with it?

I'd be curious to know if there's any correlation between where the iMac is made vs if it's mounted crooked. It'd definitely be interesting if the crooked iMacs were coming out of all the factories rather than just one.

I found that Coconut Battery will give the date of manufacture, even on "non-laptops" (such as the Mini I'm using now).

Is there a portion of the serial number that indicates the country of origin?

hmmmm.... found the answer myself on this page:
==========
Country of macbook production
Starting from 2010 and onwards in later models the first three characters define the factory where the macbook was made:
FC – Fountain, Colorado, USA
F – Fremont, California, USA
XA, XB, QP, G8 – USA
RN – Mexico
CK – Cork, Ireland
VM – Foxconn, Pardubice, Czech Republic
SG, E – Singapore
MB – Malaysia
PT, CY – Korea
EE, QT, UV – Taiwan
FK, F1, F2 – Foxconn, Zhengzhou, China
W8 – Shanghai, China
DL, DM – Foxconn, China
DN – Foxconn, Chengdu, China
YM, 7J – Hon Hai/Foxconn, China
1C, 4H, WQ, F7 – China
C0 – Tech Com, Quanta Computer Susidiary, China
C3 – Foxxcon, Shenzhen, China
C7 – Pentragon, Changhai, China
RM – Refurbished/remanufactured
===========

Note: the above was copied from the linked page.
You'll note it says "macbook".
Not sure whether the same info applies to other Mac products.
However, my Mini's serial starts with "C0", which would indicate "Tech Com" above...

Thanks for posting this! The serial number decoder is really helpful for older Macs, but unfortunately will no longer work as of mid-2021 now that Apple has started adopting randomized serial numbers. My M1 air from early 2021 starts with a C0 serial, indicating Tech Com, but my new M1 iMac's serial starts with H4, not in the list.
