Bought an AT&T iPad air today at the apple store. I asked for a t-mobile SIM card and they gave me one for free.

Good thing i ordered mine last night, i saw they made it 10.00. After I ordered it i thought about just asking the apple store for one as i remembered they told me before they have sim cards for free.

From past experience they do go on sale fairly frequently, so if not paying the $10 is significant for you, keep an eye on the t-mobile site and they should go on sale again. (And, as another poster mentioned, the Apple store may just give you one: it can't hurt to ask!)
