I've only used the Bluetooth on my MacBook a couple times, went to try to connect to the wifes phone tonight and it wasn't available in the menu.

So I checked the System Preferences/Bluetooth only the icon isn't there.

So I tried to open it through the help shortcut, but got this error message

Finally, the help suggested opening Bluetooth File Exchange for help, but it won't open because it can't find the device!

I think I either have to re-install the system software or take it back to the :apple: store

Any takers?

That definitely looks like that the bluetooth hardware has gone kaput for whatever reason. Probably not a software issue at all.

I'd take it back.

It's goosed indeed.
Took it back to :apple: store and they've kept it in for some R&R.
They think that either the bluetooth boards gone, or they forgot to plug in the wire when the MB was in during a recent repair to the hinge.

Will let you know....

Incidentally, they say check the System Profile. If the Bluetooth module doesn't show then it's most likely to be a hardware fault.

I had the same exact problem after I took in the MacBook for a repair.

They just didn't seat the bluetooth card properly on the logic board when they put it back together. It was a 10 minute fix while I waited.

The don't take anything apart in the Glasgow Apple store, they just take it off your hands for a week. :(
Will just have to use my other two Mac in the meantime...
