I recently purchased a Macbook Pro, OS X, Version 10.7.2.

For some reason, I am unable to locate my Macintosh HD directory.

I have used spotlight and searched for an hour.

Any ideas as to why it's not popping up anywhere would be greatly apprecited!

Go to Finder > Preferences > Sidebar > check Hard disks.

It is still there, though it is strange, that Spotlight couldn't find it, unless you renamed it.

Btw, going to the Home directory (your user folder - via CMD+SHIFT+H in Finder), you can go up the folder hierarchy via CMD+ArrowUp, thus twice up would get you to see the entire Macintosh HD contents (except the hidden content) and going another one up would get your to the overview of all connected storage devices, including Macintosh HD.

To learn more about Mac OS X:

I had to call Apple to find the HD drive...

Hi, I couldn't find it either when I got my macbrook pro. It's so easy though of course. When your on your desktop, go up to the top on the menu where it will say Finder, File, Edit, View, Go...., click GO, then choose Computer. Glad to help.

For some reason, Apple hides everything on the desktop by default. Click on your desktop, press Command + , and select all of the checkboxes at the top of the window.
