I can't find the Put Back option in Snow Leopard. Am I blind or did Apple remove this feature for some reason?

Nevermind: I had to empty the trash first, then it was available. Don't ask me why it was missing from the contextual menu before though.

    It's there.

Rick-click on an item in the trash ...

I don't get a "put back" menu choice when I right click a trash item either. *shrug*.

What item is it? I've noticed that it doesn't do it with apps that have been put there after an update.

After updating to Snow Leopard, you need to empty the Trash to clear out old files deleted under Leopard. Put Back will now work for any new deleted files.

    This fixed it.

    Thanks.

You can also find it under the Gear icon in the Trash (for those that don't like to right-click).

Same thing happened to me except... these were files that were deleted while I was in Snow Leopard and I did a "Clean Install" not an update.

I don't know what made the menu item disappear the first time, but it's back now.

Did you guys notice that if you drag a file from a stack directly in the trash, you don't get Put Back at all? Or is it just me?

It's not just you. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't seeing "Put Back". Now I know why.....

Kind of bad though. I am used to dragging files to the Trash.

Oh! That's what I've been doing! I've been deleting downloaded files from stacks. Okay... that explains it! It's a bug!

Same is true for apps that delete files, such as AppCleaner. Files that are removed through that are in the Trash, but are not able to be "put back."
