I thought a while back there was talk of native RED support, dual monitor windows, and other drastically needed improvements. Would be nice.
 
All of these promises look like major changes to FCP X, I wouldn't expect to have all those things until december. Next update will likely come at the end of this month, with maybe one-two of the promises in the update.
 
And if past RED support in FCP (versions 6 and 7) is any indication, it would be RED Digital Cinema releasing plugins to enable that functionality, not Apple.

They rewrote the entire program on a new framework/engine, QuickTime x instead of QuickTime 7 that FCP 7 used. It's going to take some time.
