I have a sound that chimes whenever I get an email.
I've looked at all my rules and conditions in the email program (Mailmate), used Soundbunny to try and find it and still haven't been able to locate how the sound is playing.
Mail mate's developer and I have been trying to figure it out. I even closed MailMate and opened Soundbunny but the sound still happens whenever I send an email to a specific address of mine.
Any ideas on how to find and shut-up this sound?
Thanks

Is Mail running? It's easy to open it by accident and not notice it's running in the background. By default it gives a chime for new messages.

Mail is not running. I haven't used Mail in, easily, a year. Just checked Activity Monitor to make sure.

Since the chime continues when Mailmate isn't running, I'm guessing it isn't Mailmate making the sound. What did you use to send the email when MailMate was closed?

It was sent from my phone so not on the laptop in question.

Well, this is a mystery! Browsers can also give notification chimes for new emails if you have your email account open in a tab. Also, if you get text alerts of new emails in some other program that monitors wireless accounts such as for your phone, that might be happening. Is Messages running? When MailMate is off, is anything running that could conceivably be connected with email or email notification?

Anyway, one way you may be able to fix whatever it is is to use Do Not Disturb in Notifications in your System Preferences.

No email open in browser tab.
Messages is not running.
Here's a picture of my top processes running...

Just glancing at the programs, Dropbox does notifications, and I suppose ChronoSync may as well. And there may be other apps further down the list.
But that wouldn't trigger sound when i receive a new email, right?
I've been able to figure out that the sound happens when I get a new email. Whether Mailmate is open or not.

Oh, right. Have you tried Don Not Disturb? That would narrow down whether it's something that is controlled by Notifications. Does MailMate appear in Notifications?
