So I have my atv all hooked up thanks to everyones help on here. The only thing is that when I put on a video it doesnt give me the correct audio. all it gives me is a static shhhhhhh sound. Even when I press the remote it doesnt give me the familiar blip sound, it gives a short shhh burst. I'm connected with hdmi and the picture is working perfect.

Have you tried rebooting the AppleTV?
Have you tried unplugging your TV and plugging it back in?
Sometimes HDMI can get sync issues, but I've usually only seen it with video not audio. But it's worth a try.
