Silly question - where's the trailers app gone? I know I can see previews / trailers for stuff in the iTunes apps, but that's for stuff that's actually in the store - not for movies that haven't even been released at the Cinema.

I looked in the App store, but couldn't find it - unless I'm searching for the wrong thing.

Can you switch the App Store location, download an App that's unavailable in your own region, and then switch back keeping the other region App, and does it still work?

This doesn't work. You switch to the US store, try to download the app, and it asks you for your Apple ID. Entering a non US one makes the App Store switch to the region it's valid for... And then the download stalls. All I get is a spinning icon in the 'get' button. :(

Can't you just create a US iTunes account? I have a NZ one, an American one and a UK one here.

Someone any idea why it's only in the US store ? It has been for iOS like this for years. Can't imagine it's a rights thing, because as someone who live outside the MPAA home country I can visit apple.com/trailers and look at all trailers. Very silly geo-blocking ?

Took geesus's advice, and created a US account, and now I have my trailers back. :)

It's pain in the nuts to sort out though - why on earth isn't this in the other regional app stores? It's not as if (as loekf points out) the trailers app on ATV2 or 3 was region specific.

The omission of the Trailers app from this device makes me very frustrated with Apple and honestly want to bring the silly thing back. I put the old one on a free HDMI channel just to have the app back, which is ludicrous. How does this 'make a US account' solution work, exactly? If I knew the process by which to make such an account in the first place, how would I 'purchase' the app if I'm not in the US?

Quite frankly, Apple has done far more to frustrate me than delight me this past year, but that's another discussion. :(

Not everyone wants the Trailers apps installed, so I don't think Apple made a bad decision by not including it. However, I can't understand why it's US only. Perhaps they are working on a UK version that will be released soon? I would think they would've had it ready by the time the ATV was released though.

I left Apple some feedback about the Trailers omission from the UK TVos App Store, it may be worth others doing the same.

If you don't want the hassle of creating a USA account just for the trailers app, you can download the CinePass Trailers app just now until Apple decides to correct this terrible wrong.

It's what I'm using just now, it's not quite as good as the Apple one but it does the job and it's free.

Oh, I don't care at all that it's not there in the home screen by default. I agree, it should be a choice. But the fact that it is not an option outside of the US is asinine. I truly hope Apple does correct this in an upcoming firmware update... and soon.

Props to that. I downloaded it and it seems to do the trick, although not as nicely, as you said. At least I can possibly stay on one platform instead of two. Thank you for the suggestion.
