I saw a similar thread but none with all the options.

I'm incredibly curious which models people bought and why.

I threw the 2.7 and 2.6 CPUs together since they're almost the same. I missed the 15" Retina BTO option since I forgot that Apple has the 768GB option if people go for it. Please just vote the best you can anyway.

Goal of the thread is to see what and why people are getting what they're getting. I'm undecided still so let's use this thread to help me and others come to a decision! The introduction of the Retina model made this one of the hardest years to make a decisive purchase, IMO anyway.

Sorry for the wait. I was a bit extensive with the options.

I'm hoping this stays up all year and then we can get a whole year's worth of tallies. :D

Wow, nice job putting the time together to put a detailed poll like that.

Personally, I'm opting for a 15" non-retina high-res, high-end Macbook, with plans of getting a crucial M4 early on and possibly upgrade to 16 GB RAM later down the road.

If financial plans go according to plan, I should be able to afford it sometimes within the next 2-3 months. So excited!

Thanks. I figure if everyone participates we could get a really accurate survey of how MBP sales are split among the products. Wishful thinking?

I'm still undecided. Very interested to see this poll in a week or two, that is, if it's still being used.

Purchased the 15" 2.3GHz MBP with the high-res anti-glare screen early this morning. Should be here next tuesday/wednesday.

Definitely one of the options for me. I just don't know. :(

I was committed to the rMBP early last week until the iFixit tear down scared me away by calling it the world's most unrepaireable laptop. 6 years from now, when my new MBP goes to hell, maybe I'll buy the rMBP. For right now, I don't need it. I'm going to be perfectly happy with my legacy MBP. :)

When you put it that way, I just started leaning toward the legacy.

Macbook pro 2.6 with glossy High res screen. Still waiting for mac os mountain lion to come out because I just dont want to reinstall when the new OS comes out. But it is good to have both Lion and Mountain Lion as a option. But I have a Lion install disk that I made last year. I can always reinstall Mac Os Lion when Mountain Lion turn out to suck.

As for the reasonI dont get retina. i always skip 1st gen for I learn my lesson from getting the macbook air rev A...premium price, unuseable.

Your old Lion disk wont have all the drivers for the new 2012 MBP`s hardware, so if you want the option best buy now and make an new image.

Is it possible to request this to be stickied?

Would anyone else be interested in this?

I think it'd be very good information to get a large sample pool of buyers for an entire product generation. It's a rumors site after all, so many theories can be drawn by what is selling and what's not.

Very interested in seeing how this poll will turn out. A sticky would be cool, though I don't think the chances of that happening are very high.

I voted as well, for the rMBP with a 2.6GHz processor and BTO 16GB of RAM.
Have not ordered it yet, have to scrape together a bit more money so I have some backup, instead of spending everything I have on a new laptop.

Going to be an exciting update for me though, seeing as how I'm coming from a 2006 base-line MacMini and have never had anything more powerful or portable than that, haha.

I'm also VERY interested. I'm just worried it's gonna be buried into the archives. :(

I'll be going for the standard 15" 2.3 once refurbs become available. If I luck into a hi-res whether it be glossy or AG I'll take that. I'll add my own 256GB SSD and 8GB's of ram once it's in my hands. Only thing keeping me from getting one of the old MBP regurbs is lack of USB 3.
