Which is the best model to get if I am currently a student entering highschool, a lower end processor, with 8 GB RAM and a 500 GB Hard Drive, or the nicer processor, but with standard configuration?

get the base with 8gb of ram. i run mine (2011 13 base) with a 27 acd and it still plays sc2 at low settings at above 40ps. youre more likely to benefit from more ram since the gpu shares the memory.

Consider a MacBook Air, even though you will only get 4 Gb RAM.

Or do you do 3D modeling or video editing? In this case you'd better go with a 15" mbp.
