15" i5 2.4

I had mine delivered Friday morning... Couldn't be happier with Apple! I had just purchased a 15" 20 days prior to this new release... They took it right back... No restocking fees and they covered the shipping!

I think the new i5 has a better feeling keyboard... The power cord has been redesigned... Which I think will be much better... Doesn't seem to unplug as easily... Looks much better as well... The screen hinge also seems to be sturdy, so the screen doesn't flop down when you pick it up with the screen open... Pretty nice design! I think it runs cooler as well...

I'm happy!

15" i7 standard.... kinda forced my hand with that 512 mb vram only on the i7 version...gets here tomorrow

Why do pros need bigger screens? Bit of a generalisation. I know professional mac users who even use 12 inch PowerBooks still occasionally.

Not all pros are photographers etc.

As I know from many people, in photography art and graphic design bigger screen and resolution is generally advantage. I just do not see the point to get a spec. 12inch book for that type of job.

New MacBook buyers ... did you buy the same screen size as your last notebook or increase / decrease the size.

The 15" MBP's seem REALLY popular right now, not just here but reviewers seem to like them too.

My first mac was a 13" BlackBook. I sold it after a year because I couldn't handle the tiny screen. Picked up a 15" Santa Rosa MBP back when that was the latest and greatest thing and it's kept me pretty happy but for everything I use it for I still always find myself wanting more screen. So now I just ordered myself an i7 17"!

I remember shortly after I bought my 15" I saw a friend of mine with the same computer in 17"... and jealous of the big beautiful screen I said "well yours is harder to carry around" and he sarcastically responded "oh God, yes... it's just such a terrible burden lugging this thing around... I'm just miserable with it." I really think people exaggerate the complaints about a "big" computer... you spend a lot more time USING it than you spend carrying it around and during the time you're USING it... you'll eventually end up wanting more screen imo. After owning a few computers, I've decided that I don't like "compromise" purchases. From now on I'll stick to one extreme or the other... or perhaps just always own two computers from now on... but in the end I think bigger screens win because when I'm buying a computer I care a lot more about what it will be like to use than what it will be like to carry it to class for 10 minutes in a bag.

Ordered a 15in i7 with an anti-glare display. I'm pretty excited to be getting a laptop that wont be a pain to edit on. Its replacing an old 1.83 macbook which is falling apart.

confused!

I got a 15" i7 with 500gb 7200 HDD, and apple care. i think it may be overkill for me though, as I just do the usual stuff, no massively heavy use! however, i priced up the 15" 2.4GHz and its only £100 less (with student discount)

will the battery be much less with the i7? other than that i dont really see any reason to downgrade to 2.4, as I will probably get more money back for the i7 when it comes to selling in a couple of years!

I went with the 13" - 2.4 GHz. This is my first mac and so far I'm really happy with it.

I also have a 15" Lenovo that I was required to buy for school that weighs about 7.5 lbs to carry around and only gets about 1 hr of battery life. I'm turning it into a desktop :)

15" i7/HR-GL/4GB/HD 500 @7200

Put in the order two nights ago and am looking at 5-7 business days before shipment due to the modifications. Patiently waiting.

Guess I'm the only one with a 13" 2.66 C2D. I tried every single model of the new MBPs at my local Apple store, and for some reason this one felt the most solid. Size was an important factor in my decision, but it also seemed to handle processing under load better than the base model.

If anybody is thinking the 13" is underpowered for their needs, allow me to assure you that its not. I do amateur video and photography work on an external monitor (actually an LCD TV) with it. This thing is tight. Seriously, it screams.

I ended up taking back the 17" i5 and swapping it for a 17" i7 with anti-glare screen. I felt guilty for not getting the anti-glare as one of my main purposes of buying this notebook is to edit photos.

I wanted to get a 17" i7 in the worst way, but none of the Apple Stores in the WA state area at least had or planned to have glossy screens and i just could not bring myself to go back to matte / antiglare. Ever since Apple switched, i've just become too dependent on the extra crispness i get from the glossies. ( Even had to change all my external monitors to "crystal bright" glossy screens).

Would change in a heartbeat, even thought the XBench results only come out to about a 5-7 % diff... If they get one in, i'll switch in a shot.

I ordered the 17" i7 with the 500 GB 7200 RPM drive, matte display, and 4 GB RAM. (I'll add more RAM, myself.) When SSD prices come down, and storage capacity increases, I'll probably put in an SSD drive.

i bought the white macbook unibody from best buy for 800 and then traded it in 2 days ago for the macbook pro, so i haven't really been able to test it out its been off more than it has been on right. but i love the black keyboard, the casing and how the keyboard lights up.

17" i7.

there is no reason to buy 13" or 15". i can do everything by my iPhone if it is to make it "small". so a 17" i7 MacBook Pro for "real deal" computing stuff and an iPhone 3GS 32 GB for "little things" stuff. this is the best combination.

13" and 15" is like having another iPhone .)

I imagine if you can do everything on your phone that you would do on your computer than you don't even have a need for a macbook pro : /

Don't forget that a lot of people are doing much more than internet browsing, text editing, and email on their computers.

In the minority

Looks like Im in the minority here, woot!

With a 27" core i5 iMac I dont need anything more than a C2D in my laptop. Having owned a 13" MB and 15" MBP before I know I prefer the 13" for portability.

The reason I went for the 2.66? Student discount closed the gap on the price between the two 13" MBPs and I want it to last a while. Hoping to add an SSD sometime this year :)
