Which 2012-2013 iMac did you buy and why?

27inch / 3.2 i5/ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX / 1TB HD

This to me was the best bang for the buck. The 675mx is really a 680m which brings performance closer to the 680mx. Like 95% of people I have no need for the i7. I will add more RAM and external SSD when prices come down this year. This spec should remain strong until my 3 year AppleCare is up at which point I will sell and buy the 2016-2017 iMac...

27-inch: 3.4GHz i7 768GB SSD drive NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX with 2GB and 8 GB RAM

Opted for the SSD and 3.4 GHz only because I could - and it just kept me at ease.

See the sig, chose the option in the poll as well.

Why? It was the one they had in stock at the Apple store in Augusta, GA. :)

2.9GHz i5, 660M, 3TB Fusion Drive.

Recently upgraded the RAM to 32GB Patriot Signature.

Why? Budget and TBH my set up is more than enough, even the RAM I upgraded out of boredom and wanted to take advantage of the sale.

If Apple offered a less powerful set up, I would've ordered it. I was happy with my old Mid-2012 MacBook Air Base but wanted a 27" iMac.

I got the base model 27" iMac because I mainly wanted USB 3 and the larger display.

21.5-inch: 2.9GHz 1TB hard drive NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB

I've always liked the 21 inch size. I might go with the 27" someday but for now this was the perfect model for my budget. Since I do some light gaming, I though the 650m was a good investment and would serve me well for the next 3-4 years. I didn't get fusion because I couldn't justify the extra cost.

27", 3.4GHz, i7, 1TB Fusion Drive, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB & 8 GB RAM. Added 16GB RAM for 24GB RAM total.

Purchased this due to the type of work I do in my business.

I chose the 27" iMac 3.4Ghz 8GB 3TB Fusion nVidia 680MX Trackpad and chose 'Other' in the Poll.

I multitask a LOT and will be using it for audio and video production.

I chose the 3.4 with 3 tb fusion and 2 gb graphics for its speed for photography and video editing.. Miss the superdrive, but just ordered BlueRay LG.
Apple doesn't seem to think that the pro's out their deliver Blue Ray content.

Seriously though the price of the iMac is now getting stupid and therefore PC's are making real sense and bang for bucks. Please don't start a thread about Windows and the virus, Apple has it's share and I had Vista on a Sony for 3 years and never a problem with viruses.

Question:

I can buy the following iMac CTO with 10% discount (open box):

Processor Speed 3.4 GHz (turbos to 3.8 GHz)
RAM 16 GB Type RAM 4x PC3-12800 (1600MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
Hard Drive 3 TB Fusion Drive
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX
Display 27-inch (viewable) LED-backlit glossy widescreen TFT LCD with IPS

I would like the GTX 680 MX card and would initially choose the 1 TB Fusion Drive option and upgrade the memory to 16 GB with 3rd party mem but this basically costs the same.

I didn't play games on my old iMac but would occasionally give Far Cry 3 a try. Would this suffice or does anyone reckon to go with my first choice.

Thanks!
Michel

When making the poll, I probably would have left off the Hard Drive sizes. I imagine a large chunk of the "other configuration" votes are people going 3TB Hybrid or 768GB SSD

Since you only have so many Poll slots but have 3 or 4 pieces of configuration.

iMac 27" / i7 / 32GB / GTX680mx / 1TB Fusion Drive

I have upgraded the CPU because I render at Premiere. The 680 is off course because I do use the Adobe CS. I use the 32GB so I can do a lot of stuff simultaneously.

I wished that the SSD would be cheaper. Can't afford it.

27" iMac
3.2 Ghz i5
8GB Ram (added 16GB more)
GTX680mx
3TB Fusion

27" iMac - A no-brainer. I LOVE being able to have 3 screens open, side-by-side. I do a lot of work and multi-tasking and the 21" wasn't big enough.

3.2 GHz i5 / 8GB Ram - This was the right blend and bang for buck for what I needed. i7 probably wasn't going to benefit me much.

3TB Fusion - Because I needed the storage, LOVE the Fusion. My goal was to rid my desk of wires and external hard drives so I went 3TB with a wireless backup in my media closet (External HD + Airport Extreme)

GTX680mx - I love to game. Since I keep my iMac for 5-6 years, I figure this will keep me covered.

Ideally...I just made any configuration not "off the shelf" at an Apple Store as "other"

27-inch: 3.2GHz 1TB hard drive NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX with 1GB

it's good for me, money and performance ;)

27" iMac
i7 3.4GHz
GTX 680 MX
8 GB RAM and added 16gb more
3TB Fusion HD
Superdrive
TrackPad & mouse

I went this route because it was cheaper than having an affair and didn't piss my wife off as much! :D

27"
Fusion Drive
680MX
8GB Ram-About to become 32GB :p
i7 3.4

why? because I want that mac to last at least 4 years :)

Initially ordered 27". Besides the yellow tint issue, i had decided that the screen was way to big for my liking, so i returned it.

Ended up with 21.5 i5 2.9, 16gb, fusion.

Just ordered a refurb 27 with 675mx GFX. Wanted one for a while - I just couldn't pass up the price.

Honestly no. Go price a 27" LCD. We are talking easily $500 for a good one. The rest are components. That makes up the difference. If you built a PC with the same components and added a 27" monitor the price will be about the same.
