I am looking at maxing out the mac in my sig and had a couple of questions:

    1. When i look on crucial there are 2 options - DDR2 PC2-4200 or DDR2 PC2-5300. They are practically the same price (c£105) - is there any real difference?

    2. Is £105 too much - can anyone reccomend anywhere else (£105 seems amazing, when i first got the mac it was £500 for the 2gb!)

    3. I would say I am an average user - a bit of iMovie/iDVD - i like to have iTunes/eyeTV/iChat/Skype/word/excel/powerpoint open all the time but notice the slow down - will the 2gb mean i can run all these efficiently? Or could a 1gb stick (taking me to 1.5gb) do the trick? The 1gb are under £30....

    Thanks

ps - i realise i would have to lose the 512mb already in my mac

    1. The PC2-5300 RAM would be faster than the other. So although they're both technically 2GB, the latter would perform better.

    2. £105 seems very reasonable to me, although you might possibly be able to get slightly under £100 if you shop around. But then, peace of mind that the RAM from crucial is guaranteed to work is worth money in my mind, and the difference isn't that much.

Hope that helps a bit. :)
