Apple TV 4K 2021 is going to be my first and only Apple product for now. I manage DNS filtering via local Pi-Hole and filter as many telemetry, metrics, analytics, and tracking domains as I can. I actually apply "Block all domains, except for the ones needed". It does take a bit of time and experimentation to find out which domains are needed, but the results are worth it. For example, Amazon Fire TV only needs to connect to a fraction of domains it tries to contact to provide all the features. The rest are for telemetry, metrics, analytics, tracking, or features useless to me.

From what rumors say, Apple products are very noisy and connect to many domains, but maintain better user privacy than competitive Android products. Is there a list of required/mandatory Apple domains and sub-domains I must allow to:
- Register Apple TV 4K 2021
- Use Apple TV 4K for non-Apple streaming services (YouTube and Tubi)
- Maintain connection to Apple services (captive portal checking, connectivity checking domains, and similar domains)

If an allow list of needed Apple domains is too big, then is there a list of domains I can block (such as metrics.icloud.com and metrics.mzstatic.com) to reduce telemetry, metrics, analytics, and tracking network footprints?

Why is it called Pi-hole? Ist that just a unfortunate coincidence or does it have a deeper meaning?
