So the range of options are:

$4999 glossy screen no stand
$5999 glossy screen with stand
$5999 matte screen no stand
$6999 matte screen with stand
Multiple XDRs (if youre getting more than one, check off the kind(s) youre getting).
Not getting an XDR

I've gone with glossy. But will see them in person next week. Here are my reasons so far, but may change.
  • It’s 1000 less
  • No offset fading of colors, as I won’t always be using it directly face on.
  • Slighter richer colors with glossy.
  • Used in a room without too many lights.
I will see them in person next week and make final decision then.

Does anyone know if the Nano textured layer is exposed? Or protected under a layer of glass? If it’s exposed, I’ll get the glossy for sure for longevity because over the years I have it I won’t want to have to be concerned about caring for it correctly with a special cloth, especially with other members of the family using it.

"No stand" isn't really an option unless you want to prop it up against some books or something. As someone else said alluded to... if you're not getting the stand you need the VESA mount. So the options should be:

$5198 glossy screen vesa adaptor
$5999 glossy screen with stand
$6198 matte screen vesa adaptor
$6999 matte screen with stand

Option G - already have display(s), waiting to be convinced the Pro Display XDR + stand/VESA is worth the vast amount it costs.

Actually seeing it might help, but of course it's far too precious for my local Apple Store (see other thread) so I have to make a pilgrimage to the CBD to the flagship store.

That concerns me too. It does come with a cloth, and according to the various news sites, can only be used with this cloth, which must be carefully washed or replaced.

Has anyone seen an in-depth review that covers this sort of stuff? How it handles fingerprints, etc.
 
Ordered one of each with stands. Will see how they both look in person, in my environment and keep one. May be tempted to keep both but just too much cash. I will want a second monitor and maybe purchase a 4K or 5k LG for a 6th of the price. Debating what to do for the second monitor at the moment.

with the huge wait time on the Apple site, you may have good luck selling it on eBay for a small profit :)

I saw today on x’mas eve in Apple store in Hong Kong. The standard glass one is definitely a better choice if you place it in the room where lighting is fixed and controlled. It just looks more vivid and sharper on the standard glass one. The image on nano texture looks a bit darker and scattered because of the matte texture. Matte is still matte. The Apple advisor told the matte will be good in studio where you have so many lightings from different directions, then nano will be your choice.

I add a pic here which the left one is standard glass and the right is nano texture. The picture can’t really tell which better. It looks like even the right(nano) look brighter. However, this is not the case when you see yourself in person.

go for standard glass one if you will use it in your own room"

I had to update my vote as I had originally ordered one nano, and I loved it so much that four days after I got it, I ordered a second one.

I have a nano on order but I feel like I need to go to the store again and check one more. Then again in the store it’s so hard to judge as in that lighting the nano looks WAY better.
Every day when I come home from the office with nasty regular matte screens and sit in front of my glossy Dell 5k I’m wondering why I didn’t just went with glossy XDR as glossy doesn’t bother me at all, I’m actually fine with it, just let myself convince by the wow effect that the nano provides somehow..

plus you get a special nano cleaning Apple cloth.
