Hi

I will be purchasing my first Apple TV. We have not done streaming before. Our TV only has one HDMI input.

Our TV is 10 years old. It is 720p and 1080i. We have Fios and are connecting to the Fios set top box using component cables. This preserves HD, while freeing up the HDMI input.

Is there a chance that I might benefit from the ATV, rumored to be announced on Tuesday, or should I purchase the ATV 4? The ATV, will be connected via wi-fi.

Otherwise we have iPhones, iPads and and iMac. We also have an Airport Express for streaming Apple Music to the stereo. We have no plans to stream Apple Music to the TV.

Suggestions ?

i would wait, we don't know the full specs yet.
it's probably just be an resolution bump, but they could throw a new feature or 2 in there.

it's a short wait, and you might be able to get a used one from someone that wants to upgrade or a closeout for pretty cheap

I would wait.
With modern tech 10 years is pretty old so even if you do not plan on upgrading the TV it could be forced on you sometime. If the price difference isn't that much it might be worth getting the new one to future proof yourself.
