I have a task that I am looking for "original" photo taken by my participants, however, it's not convenient for many people to use a computer and transfer the photo to the computer and send to me, it will discourage my participants from taking photo. However, if they send me through messenger, whatsapp or instagram, the photo is likely compressed or manipulated, some original EXIF information may have lost.

Is there any way or apps for them to send me the picture they have taken with their phone but the picture is received on my side as original as possible

When I need to send original quality photos to Android users -- I used Google Photos (I use that as my main photo cloud as well -- I pay extra storage for it to upload uncompressed photos). Google Photos has a "share" tab where you can add multiple people to a "thread". They can also comment, etc.

I mostly use Airdrop, but that only works if you're in close proximity to the other person. Any cloud storage service will work, i.e. Dropbox, OneDrive, etc. Other services like Google Photos, Flickr will also work.

It's unfortunate that iCloud photo sharing also compresses the original photo when sharing. For me, this would be ideal other than just sending via iMessages.

Edit: Telegram will also work if you use that.

but looks like Telegram also compresses and manipulates the photo a lot

You need to use the attach file method, not send them inline with a message. Kinda the same as using a cloud storage service.

How to send photo and images without compression?

Telegram saves and compresses the size of photo materials. For example, if the original version of the picture weighs 5 – 6 MB, then in the process of sending, the application will reduce it to a few KB, which will damage the quality. To prevent this, you can send photos as files. You should:

  • Click on the paper clip, but select the “File” button.
  • Go to the Gallery.
  • Then, select an image and send it to the recipient.
Telegram doesn’t compress photos of any format; only JPG (jpeg), PNG, and gif are subject to change.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the use case for this? I ask because I struggled with this at my previous employment. I needed my guys to take high quality images of each job they did for local government inspectors. I was fortunate because we provided all my guys with iPhone. They would just send the photos via an iCloud link. Then I could just get on with my computer download, send the inspectors their copy and than file photos away with the job.

For a time we transitions to "CompanyCam" which was a total pain in the ass. They would always forget to upload it to the app and there was a bit of compression (although still usable).

Finally we moved to business fleet software (ServiceTitan) but it was still a pain.

The iCloud link was just the easiest way to do it.

Literally one of the reasons I quit that job. Getting the guys to get a 20-30 high quality photo of something that is in poor lighting conditions and upload it everyday for an inspector that is too lazy too do their own job so we are doing it for free....ahhh like herding cats...
