I would consider your personal style and clothing more than skin tone. In general you can never go wrong with black, but something else might be better. What color shoes and belts do you typically wear? Do you dress casually (jeans and casual shirts), business casual, sportswear, or formal attire?
It's so easy to change bands that I highly recommend having at least two bands you can rotate. I think rotating bands also helps avoid any kind of contact dermatitis that can come from wearing the same band day after day without giving it time to air out.
I bought my silver aluminum sport two years ago with the blue sports band. The blue sports band looks great with sportswear and find with casual wear as well, but most of the time I wear a casual brown leather band from Clockwork Synergy. I usually wear jeans and casual shirts to work, so the brown leather goes well with that. I also have a black leather loop knockoff that looks good with almost anything. I wear it more in the Winter, when my wardrobe shifts to more blacks and grays.
My favorite band these days (especially for hot weather) is the black (actually looks rather gray) woven nylon band.
I highly recommend visiting an Apple Store (or any store that sells Apple Watch) and trying on different styles and colors. It's really the best way to comparison shop, and it's fun!
