That or should I just buy directly from Apple.com to be sure ?

To buy GENUINE Apple cables, Apple is the only option. However, if you’re looking for third party cable which might be certified by Apple then look for “MFI approved” mentioned in the details. Anker is a good company to start with. Amazon basic cables are MFI certified as well.

Yeah, I have a few of Amazon's own brand that work great.

We use both AmazonBasics and Anker PowerLine+ cables (nylon) at home. Works very well. I've had a couple cables go bad but they still lasted me far longer than any of the Apple OEM cables (which seem to start fraying at the connectors within ~3-6 months).

I get Zeuste Lightning Cables you get 3 cables for around $10!

Gold and Pink Cables

Black Cables
https://www.amazon.com/Zeuste-Braid...ie=UTF8&qid=1513395347&sr=8-3&keywords=Zeuste

They last me on average 6 months for one cable. The trick is to press down the lightning connecter into the metal base. This prevents the connector from detaching.

Apple is the best but for less expensive cables, I go for Amazon Basics.

I find that all lightning cables break within the year. I have tried paracables, official apple cables, and cheap cables. They all seem to last the same 6 months to a year max. I think its they way apple specified how to make them that causes it to fail. On the other hand my micro usb cable has been working for over 2 years.

Really? Mine are still fine after 2.5 years with regular usage. I have one Apple original and a couple of Amazon Basics.

Been getting 1.5+ years use from my Amazon and Anker cables.

Purchased these to replace a couple that have gone bad.

Will see if these new cables actually last longer compared to previous models.

Those cables look great too bad i just bought 8 lightning cables for about the same price. I am keeping this one on my wish list for the future but the 10ft version.

Indestructible? Not really. I do find they last a lot longer compared to Apple OEM cables, though.

Mind, we chose these cables (6-10ft) so we can use our devices while they're charging. I reckon the frequent handling contributes quite a bit of extra stress.
The braided cables I linked to only come in 3 ft or 6 ft. Perhaps you’re referring to a different cable.

I’m happy to put money behind my claim. :)

I’m using an Anker braided cable. It has been awesome so far. Although it highly depends on usage pattern. Some people are careful with not bending the cables much, some ain’t.

Anker makes 10ft. I've got 6ft cables from both Anker and AmazonBasics.

The construction doesn't make these cables immune to mechanical wear and tear. They can just withstand a lot more physical handling.

Apple OEM cables often last me maybe 3 months or so before they start fraying so the 1.5+ years I get with Anker and AmazonBasics is a big improvement. Mind, 1.5 years was the earliest failure. Most last longer.

The Anker PowerLine+ II cables have lifetime warranty so that should be quite interesting.

Apple lawsuit says 90 percent of 'official' chargers sold on Amazon are fake

https://www.theverge.com/2016/10/20/13343682/fake-apple-chargers-amazon-lawsuit

I would opt for BHPhotovideo instead... bought my Apple stuff from them.
Lol, I'm more surprised that 10% are not fake. I just assume all Apple "OEM" cables on Amazon or ebay are fakes.

If buying from a non-Apple authorized retailer such as Amazon, it's really much better to just buy MFi certified products. Usually cheaper, too, and I actually find cable construction/quality to be better than Apple.
