Grrr... They did the same thing to me. They sent me out a replacement Sheath but it has the same symmetrical speaker cutouts as before. Now they will have to send me a replacement for the replacement. WTH?

And for those curious about the Synthesis, the XS Synthesis case I got had Symmetrical cutouts too. I thought the Synthesis was also supposed to have the correct XS cutouts. Am I incorrect?

Start Rant: My Totallee case that I got right after the XS release had the right cutouts. Why are these other case makers getting away selling "XS" cases that have the old X cases with the wrong cutouts? Case makers shouldn't claim its an XS case unless it has the XS cutouts, not the old X camera and speaker cutouts. OK, End Rant!!!!

i corresponded with Caudabe with regard to the cutouts of the Sheath (first version) and they didn't believe the "rumors" of an asymmetric speaker grill and so went with symmetric ones.

does the camera opening on the Synthesis work for the XS?

Caudabe does actually (at least on face value) sell a separate version for the X and XS, so i was assuming that the camera cutout was at least right. (it seems to be for my Sheath at least -- my updated Sheath is delayed due to a DHL/USPS error...sigh... )

I really like the apple leather case, it feels and looks great,but I'm looking for a better protective case which will feel the same,
I have most of the cases mantioned here but none of them feels as good as the apple leather case,
Yesterday I recived the nonamd rugged case and i feel the same thing,
Is it a real leather?

I asked them about the Synthesis and they said they will not be updating it to have asymmetrical cut outs. Once I get my updated sheath in ill post a few comparison pics between the navy blue and black. Im really digging the navy blue even without those asymmetrical cut outs tho

I love the Apple case but can I REALLY justify its price tag?!?!?!

I also love the Nomad case but have heard the flap does not close flush with the screen of the phone, even when empty, due to the stiffness of the leather and that would REALLY bug me!!!!

I bought the hunter green Apple folio case. It's fantastic.

...well, I ended up getting the Apple Folio leather case for my XS, in Forest Green (it's not called 'Hunter Green'!!) and have to say, I'm a little underwhelmed by it.

The only decent feature of it is that it turns your screen on and off but other than that, I'm not sure if I like it for these reasons:

When holding it in your right hand (I am a one handed phone user), you either have to have the flap, dangling down on the left whilst using the screen with your thumb, which looks cr@p, OR, you have to fold the flap, back on itself and hold the whole of the folio, in your right hand. This makes it slightly bulky, which isn't too much of a thing, BUT, I also find that the weight of the phone, makes the case part of the folio sag slightly when in the hand.

Also, although the colour of the case is supposed to be 'Forest Green, its only the folio part which is actually 'Forest Green' (the green arrow part below!!). The inner case is (the blue arrow!!), is a much lighter green colour. I would have liked the inner leather case to be the same exact green as the normal Apple Forest Green (which I also have) Leather case, but this is not so....

Not sure whether to return it or just keep it for the occasions when I would use a folio....!?!

Are the buttons like nice now where they dont bobble around like the X case did cause that killed it for me on the Rhinoshields, like the buttons were loose and all over the place

No wobble at all. The solidsuit is still my favorite, most used case but I am getting my Switcheasy Glass today so I'll be posting some pictures later. I ordered the mini vader otterbox on black friday but they are in no hurry to mail that out and tracking says I won't have it until the end of next week.

Yep, it still has the ugly tear drop cutouts.

That was one of the reasons I sent mine back. Ugly IMO. Buttons are also not as good as the solidsuit.

I just got the XS Sysnthesis case last night so these are first impressions.
- The camera cutout looks correct.
- The speaker cutouts are for the X.
- i have the iCarez 2.5D screen protector. .33mm and the edge to edge is good without and case screen conflicts.
- The lip on the Synthesis is the minutest bit taller than the Sheath. This is great for scrolling and general use. Obviously it isnt going to be the best if you drop the phone on its corner. This case is for moderate protection.
- The case gives the phone a solid feel. It is slighlty thicker than the sheath, but it doesnt make the -hone feel like a brick. Overall, this seems like a good light moderate protection case.
- The back is smooth. While it feels a little slick, when your finger get to the edges there is grip. So far, i’m not concerned that the back will make me drop my phone.
- the back has slightly raised bumpers.. They are very small but will keep the camera off a flat surface.
- The back is smooth and black. It does seem to show some shiny spots despite being new. Not a big deal, but when you look at it the light, the back surface isnt all the same.

Here are a few pictures. Sorry for that they arent the greatest. I had to take them with my unwieldly ipad pro before work. Between the ipad fold over case, and being in a hurry, they arent the best. But, i hope they are helpful nonetheless.

As the others have already confirmed, there is no wiggle or wobble in the buttons. I checked as soon as I got into work this morning. They feel really solid but so tactile (people on here were right about the Sheath, and they're right about how great SolidSuit buttons feel). I've had cases that had loose buttons (Spigen Neo Hybrid) and the RhinoShield is definitely not like that.

That's a good question. By the time the synthesis is released for max I doubt there'll be much demand for it. It's like the Thanotech k11 that won't be out until january.

Yes, the XS synthesis case is dark. When you have it off the phone and look at it in the light, it barely passes light through it. The phone in the pictures is Gold, and you can't see the color through the back except for right near the camera where the case is a bit thinner. You can see it in the pictures, there is a faint gold-ish color to the right of the camera. You also can't see the apple insignia (which is fine with me). In short, the case back is dark and all phones will look pretty much black in the case.

Mine shipped from Ohio, but mine is the XR version. It did take a few days from DHL to get to USPS. I ordered on Monday 11/19 and arrived Saturday 11/24 (there was Thanksgiving day in the middle).

Anyone using cases like the Caudabe Sheath, but partly feeling paranoid about dropping the phone? I love the Sheath, but dropping the case is always on the back on my mind. Almost want to get a protective case and just not have to have the thought of dropping the case in the back of my mind..

These cases are not shipped from oversees. They ship from Ohio i think. I was able to track the shipment via DHL until they handed it to USPS. This is where you will get the message you are seeing. In my experience usps doesnt update the shipping status until it gets your home town. This can take 2-5 days in my experience depending on when they get someone to unload the DHL crates.

I think usps will update your tracking the day before they deliver.

That Synthesis from Caudabe might be exactly what I am looking for.

I used it for the 7 Plus a while back and really liked it.

The MagCase Pro from Pitaka almost made it if only it had a raised lip on the sides instead of just the corners.

I totally would have bought the Pitaka MagCase Pro if the lip was all around too. I'm willing to overlook the appearance of the case and the finger prints in the back if it had lip all around. I can see myself with the bad luck of dropping the phone and having it land at the edge where there's no lip...

thanks for sending these pics and the review. it does look like there isn't much added protection on the screen front relative to the Sheath. to be fair, Jessica at Caudabe said it was fractions of a mm deeper (front lip) which of course could be something inperceptible. yet, i'm hoping even a small bit greater lip will help (i too am using the iCarez 2.5D)

from the looks of your picture, it doesn't look as translucent as i thought it might be. i was hoping for a subtle amount of my iPhone back to come through but didn't order the gray since i didn't want to highlight the white back of my silver XS.

I'm using the Sheath on my XS Max and it love it. I have dropped it just once, although it wasn't a big one, it protected the phone just fine. It's by far one of the better cases I've had on an IPhone. I can tell because I haven't taken it off for something else yet. lol
