Neither! The Apple stores have a green/sea blue/turquoise [ exclusive to the Apple store ] color and it's beautiful!

i've wondered about these things, don't they cause your MBP to overheat a bit? What about scratches?

It probably inhibits the aluminum case of the system to dissipate heat somewhat, but I can't see it causing systems to overheat as a result. Fans will run at higher RPM's, on average most likely, causing fan replacements to happen sooner.

I had one on my early-2008 MBP, and when the battery finally gave out on it 2 years 11 months into AppleCare (in retrospect, I had it plugged in more than I should have,) I took the shell off to bring it in to get the battery replaced, and they (Apple Geniuses) were impressed about how the system looked like it was still brand new. So, do they cause scratches? No. :)

So, possible decreased fan life in exchange for scratch resistance to the system's chassis. It's up to the individual owners to decide if it's a tradeoff worth living with.

To the OP: I'd get the clear. I don't like how the dark one blurs the Apple logo.

I've noticed no difference in temps and/or idle fan speed yet. No scratches either.

I take it off once a month to wipe off any dust that might have migrated thru, but otherwise, it's a great case with a perfect fit and finish.

Why not get the Spigen Soft matte film instead of a case, it's only slightly less protective but much better.

I used to use one of these and I didn't like it at all. I was really surprised when after about a month of use I took the case off and my Macbook Pro had a large amount of grime buildup all over it and a small but deep and noticeable scratch near the IR blaster. I was not happy at all about that and I decided to just leave it off after a few more tries with similar results (minus the scratch).

I think the clear is a better more classic Apple look. The blue makes it look like an HP or something. ;)

I don't like cases, but if I had to choose one, I would go with satin steel blue, it looks nice.

I went with the clear and put a favorite photo (full width) underneath it. You can change out the photo as often as you want.

Makes it very easy to recognize on the TSA conveyor belt, plus looks way more individual and personalized

Note: I only used the top--left the bottom off for the heat-dissipation.

You ask for help, and then laugh at the ones giving it to you?

Good to know. Thanks for the heads up.

I went with the blue speck one. It is very nice and protects well. Heat is not an issue. I beat the snot out of the process for hours at a time and it never had any issue with heat.

I chose blue cause It is a nice complement to the aluminum and gives it a unique look. It looks pretty neat with the blue case and apple logo.

I've used green, red, clear and black ones. I personally prefer using my mac naked, and try to ignore all the little dings and scratches cuz i love the feel of the aluminum unibody. These cases feel kinda plasticy, but they do seem to do a good job. I think I'd go with clear even though it would look even more plasitcy than the steel blue

I use to be a big fan of Speck case - until i got several scratches from the case. Yes I cleaned it regularly. Naked for me now - with a sleeve for transportation.

Black or clean if I was forced to choice a color.
