So you returned the gold and went for silver which will show scratches the easiest. /facepalm

The concern is with the gold is that if it scratches, you can’t remove them due to the PVD coating. At least if the silver scratches on the stainless, those can be removed with a polishing cloth.

I know this. If he wanted something that wouldn’t scratch so easily he should have gotten the space grey.

Keeping it in the case since day one was his problem. There’s still a chance that little particles can get in between the phone and case. Gotta take the phone out and give it a little cleaning once awhile.

But they will buff out with a cape cod cloth. Plus I have a Apple Leather case on it so the band is only exposed on the bottom which means I will only have to buff out a small portion of the band anyway. I’d rather have it scratch and I can do something about it than have the coating flake or chip off.

And this was my logic also!

I have the space grey X for over a year now with no flaking or chipping.

...or you polish them out using a Cape Cod Cloth, which can’t be done with a Space Grey finish. This is the reason the OP asked the question.

He asked which one scratched the easiest as if he wanted to stay away from that specific color. You aren’t telling me anything I don’t already know.

I have a Space Gray X from launch day last November. It's been in multiple types of cases, Apple leather & silicone, cheap thin cases, and I use it naked a lot of times just for the sleekness. Not a single scratch or blemish on the SG, and I dropped it a few times on hardwood floors & tile.

I would recommend getting SG.
