Which disk version of Snow Leopard?

I want to buy a retail version of Snow Leopard but am a bit confused which version I should choose. I want to make a clean install on an empty SSD.

Should I get 10.6 (MC223Z/A) or 10.6.3 (MC573Z/A)?

Snow Leopard is a tricky version. If you are trying to install on a Mac that shipped with Snow Leopard, then the retail version sometimes won't work, because the Snow Leopard version that Mac may require is a specific build version, and you can only install Snow Leopard from the DVD that actually came in the box with that Mac.

But, to answer your actual question - I would get the 10.6.3 version, if that is a choice for you.

Just curious - what Mac are you using to install Snow Leopard?

Yes I'm leaning towards the 10.6.3.

Forgot to write that I want to install it on a MacBook Pro from 2009.

You should not have a problem installing either one on a 2009 MBPro.
Whichever Snow Leopard system that you install will tell you that there are updates to download, which will then update any Snow Leopard install to 10.6.8

I bought the 10.6.3 version hoping it will work. Got it for pretty cheap on eBay.

Hopefully your DVD drive will still be working OK to boot and install from your "new" installer DVD.

Just a tip -- the install is noticeable faster (and often more reliable) from a USB external drive, compared to the DVD. I use Disk Utility to "restore" from the Snow Leopard DVD to an 8GB partition on an external SSD.
