Hey,

I am a bit confused with the current line up of 27" inch LED Cinema Displays.

1. Apple LED Cinema Display (27" flat panel)
2. Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch)

I want to use the display with my 2011 MBP. It's got a mini display port and no thunderbolt. Is thunderbolt downwards compatible? Which display will work with my macbook or will both work?

Thanks :)

If your MBP is 2011 MacBook Pro 15", 2.0GHz i7 then it does have a thunderbolt port - so you can pick either. Same resolution support of 2560 by 1440 pixels.

Thunderbolt spec
http://www.apple.com/displays/specs.html

Thunderbolt is a relatively new technology allowing faster data throughput for connected devices, whether that be another monitor, hard drive etc

Flat Panel 27inch bundled with imac has two options:
-AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR5 memory (Cheaper Option)
AMD Radeon HD 6970M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory (expensive option)
Configurable to AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 2GB GDDR5
Expensive Option

Hope this helps
